Wolfgang Bernard returning to Daimler in April 2009

Former DaimlerChrysler employee Wolfgang Bernard will be return to Daimler AG heading up the company’s van business. Bernard left DamilerChrysler in 2004 just before he was to become head of the Mercedes-Benz Group division.


“I am pleased that Wolfgang Bernard is back on board at Daimler,” Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche told Reuters. ”I value his knowledge and experience from the mutual time we spent in the USA and am happy that we can continue our excellent professional relationship.”



Bernard will start his new position from April 2009. He will be responsible for Daimler division that produces 288,000 light commercial vehicles that employees 16,000 workers.


His recent achievements include restructuring Volkswagen and playing a key role in the new Volkswagen Tiguan SUV.
